John gives Clifford a thumbs up during his visit to the Clifford Pennock Remastered exhibit at the Red Brick School

John and Julie Parish stand with a photo of JR Dargavel, who is John’s maternal grandfather.  Mr. Dargavel was photographed by Clifford Pennock in front of his general store on Main Street, Elgin. 

Lisa Pennock and her son Andrew Andrychuk stand next to Clifford Pennock photo.  Lisa’s great grandfather was a cousin of Clifford’s father.  Lisa recognized some of the people in other photographs.

Glen Russell, the creator of the Pennock exhibit and EAHS Partner, shares the process of transforming and remastering the black & white, digital thumbnails into the images on display. He also drew attention to Pennock’s photographic mastery which was well ahead of its time for the early 1900s.

Diane Haskins, EAHS Director and Pennock initiative lead, explains the backstory of the Pennock photographic collection and how the display came about. A convoluted journey for sure.

Mary Roantree, EAHS President, welcomes attendees at the Clifford Pennock, Remastered photo display at the Red Brick School June 29th. She also briefed those in attendance with a history of the Red Brick School and the vision of the Elgin & Area Heritage Society.
