Tending the sugar bush seemed to be a family affair. And the children were well aware that delicious maple taffy could be had by pouring a thickened syrup onto fresh snow. On the farm of J N Knowlton – Crosby – April 12, 1911.
Given the sugarhouse in the background, they are most likely “finishing off” in the cauldron over the open fire. Taffy would be wonderful, but where is the snow? Note the lady driving the team on the gathering sleigh.
